Centre of Advanced Performance Engineering (CAPE)
The new Centre of Advanced Performance Engineering (CAPE) building is a part of the National Centre for Motorsport Engineering (NCME) at University of Bolton and comprises of a unique state of the art three storey building covering 1,535 square meters and reaching 13 meters in height.
The center offers students outstanding academic programmes in motorsport and performance engineering with the opportunity to develop the future of the industry by gaining hands on experience with racing teams.
The building design includes state of the art engineering equipment, wind tunnels, robotic workshops and laboratories with the inclusion of a number of classrooms and open areas which provide students access to race teams and car manufacturers.
Within the Centre an open showroom the full three storey height was formed where vertical displays can be created and numerous super cars will be exhibited. Parallel to the Showroom is the Boulevard which has a sliding partition at on end that opens up to create a physical interaction between the show space and workspace for events and also provides peep holes to behind the scenes engineering.
Externally the Centre promotes a dramatic curved glazed corner to the building which is enhanced by feature LED lighting allowing the general public viewing of the super cars and displays in the Showroom.
